About the 2012 Competition and Exhibition
Easels in Frederick is a juried plein air competition; cash prizes totaling $12,500 will be awarded at the concluding exhibit and sale. Easels in Frederick is a project conceived, organized, and operated by a group of volunteers. The Delaplaine Arts Center in Frederick, MD, has adopted the project as a sponsored program. Acceptance juror John Budicin will select thirty (30) artists to compete; he will also select seven (7) alternates (in order) in the event that some selected artists cannot participate. Awards Judge Lori Putnam will select and award the prizes. The competition, exhibit, sale, and ancillary events will be centered in historic downtown Frederick. Artists must complete and submit two works, each with a 16- x 20-inch maximum canvas size, painted within designated boundaries (to be announced) in downtown Frederick from Wednesday, June 20 to Friday, June 22, 2012. The paintings must be produced without the use of photographs.
